The Best Gifts for the Guys...
Anything they say that they want! Guys are usually pretty direct when asked what type
of gift they would like to receive. Pay attention and follow through! If that gift is
out of your budget range, buy him a gift
card to use toward the purchase of that
item. Make sure you include that sentiment in your card, otherwise he may not understand why you would buy him a gift card from Walmart for his very special birthday present.
Guys in general are pretty nostalgic. What are their hobbies? What kind of music do they like? Who is his favorite sports player? His Alma Mater? Find something that reminds them of their happy past and try and give that to him! My husband is a huge Batman lover. For our first Christmas together I bought him a signed autographed Batman poster. He loved it! Get the idea? Ebay is a great place to locate memorabilia and nostalgic items.
Generally guys are happy with gifts that fill
a need. Get your mind out of the gutter….
we’re talking power tools, for example!
What does he need that he currently does not have that would make his life easier? Again…get your mind out of the gutter…
Event tickets are usually a big hit with the guys! If he is a baseball fan and you are
not, tell him in the card that his gift is a
“guys night out”…He’ll appreciate the thought and probably try to convince you
to go with him anyway. You just scored
major points!!!!
The Best Gifts for the Girls...
Buy her a gift she wants, no what she needs! If you are planning on buying her a small appliance, wool socks, vacuum cleaner, or exercise video, you had better supplement that gift with one that exudes romance, luxury, and frivolity!
Romantic excursions. Women love to be romanced. In a pinch. buy a nice bottle of wine, grab some cheese and crackers (anything but Velveeta) and surprise her with a picnic in the backyard or living room floor. Top it off with a romantic greeting card. Home run!!!!
Jewelry is always a very safe bet. Silver or Gold? Depends on her taste, but both can be affordable these days with stores like Walmart, TJ Max and Sam’s Club around. Just remember to take it out of the Walmart box….that will definitely kill the mood! Buy a small teddy bear and put the necklace, ring or bracelet around his neck with a piece of ribbon. Cute and beautiful are always a winning combination!
Leather is always a welcomed gift as it is practical and luxurious. A soft leather jacket with matching gloves and silk scarf is a sure winner if you are confident with knowing her style and taste. If you’re not sure, just go with the gloves and scarf!!!

As a LAST resort, gift cards can be appropriate especially if you know she spends a ton of cash on health and beauty needs. ALWAYS purchase something “personal” along with the gift card like her favorite bottle of perfume, favorite gourmet truffles, or something unique to her that tells her you were not taking the easy way out!
